Dalton’s introduction year for the Pro XP turbo model. A new chassis, new HP and new clutches that are different from previous turbo RZR models. Their 2020 Pro XP is a great platform but did have some known issues that developed on initial production models. Their original released set up had a fairly weak secondary spring, their factory later supplied a new updated secondary spring that was slightly better to customers but the vehicle still exhibited belt slippage, especially at higher speeds. (starting late 2020, Polaris also supplied complete new primary clutches on a recall for certain ones that had specific defects. It is good to ensure that yours has been updated if necessary).
Dalton Polaris clutch kit 2020 offers improved performance, better belt grip, longer belt life, and adjustability to be able to better calibrate the clutching for different tire sizes and situations. Improved back shifting of the belt when the vehicle senses load to prevent slippage.
Included are new primary and secondary springs, new forged steel secondary helix, and a set of adjustable flyweight lever arms.
Their adjustable flyweights in this kit were built specific for this application.
Proper flyweights have a bushing. Their factory stock weights have a bushing (some aftermarket do not). It is critical to not only have a bushing, but a good bushing. When a flyweight comes under load at higher rpms, it needs to pivot freely on the pin and thus not stick to the pin and pivot the pin in the aluminum clutch housing.
The Dalton flyweights in this kit have a superior bushing material, and this bushing has been proven in many high HP endurance applications in our other kits, including the Baja 1000, etc.
The Dalton “Quick Adjust” flyweight allows you to fine tune clutching calibration (add or subtract grams) without even removing the flyweights from the drive clutch. The flyweights also have a hardened steel thrust washer on each side which allows for more fluid motion of the weight, and prevents the flyweight from grinding against the aluminum housing of the clutch. Improved wear and better clutch action is the result.
Both clutches must work together. Their kit contains a helix that was necessary, and designed to work with the secondary spring and primary set up provided with the rest of this kit.
Dalton’s instruction manual includes a “set up guide” that tells you how to set up for different tires and conditions on a stock vehicle.
